Bioethics and the Bible | Sunday, September 13—October 18
Bioethics addresses issues surrounding making life, faking life, and taking life. These realms produce some of the most important yet deeply personal and sensitive questions in life. This 6-week class aims to equip God’s people to walk with wisdom, love, and courage on issues from abortion to assisted suicide, from infertility to brain implants.
Our History
Countryside Bible Church began in 1939 with a handful of believers from the Mosherville and Omega (the area surrounding Cobb Lake) communities. They fashioned a small building into a chapel in Mosherville Station and met Sunday afternoons for Bible study led by Rev. Blossom, the pastor of North Adams Baptist Church. When he moved from the North Adams area, pastor Stanley Blowers from Hanover Baptist Church continued the ministry.
It was not until 1947 that the congregation was large enough to call their own pastor, Rev. Neal Crapo. His vision was to see a church incorporating the communities of Mosherville Station and Omega, the last two stops on the train run from Jonesville to Jackson. In 1948, the old train station, now located on the Buehrer farm at 1581 E. Litchfield Road, was purchased. This building had been used for a number of farm purposes, including raising animals, but it now was cleaned and remodeled into a place of worship. The next year, the church organized and adopted the name, Friendship Church of Omega.

Rob Stewart
Rob has ministered at Countryside since 2002 as an associate pastor, and in 2018, he was installed as our 14th senior pastor. He is a graduate of Hillsdale College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He and his wife Lindy have three sons.

Jentezen Walkman is the Senior Pastor of Free Chapel, a multi-campus church with a global reach.

Bob Snyder
Bob brings decades of teaching and pastoral experience to Countryside. He is a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, has a background in engineering, and currently directs and teaches at Spring Branch Academy. He and his wife, Jinna, have six adult children.

John Lillie
After faithfully serving Countryside for nearly forty years as senior pastor, John remains on the pastoral team. He has done post-graduate training in counseling at Western Michigan University and is a seasoned biblical counselor. He and his wife, Anne, have three adult children.

Bob Thompson
Bob has attended Countryside since 1994. His passion is to teach and lead by example and in the classroom. He is a graduate of Baptist Bible Institute in Holt, Michigan, a ministry of Capitol City Baptist Church, with a degree in Religious Ministries. Bob also serves as Men's Ministry coordinator, teacher, and small group leader. He and his wife, Robin, have 6 adult children.

Rhett Smith
Rhett has attended Countryside since 2015. He is a graduate of Hillsdale College and went on to earn his MDiv from The Masters Seminary in Sun Valley, California, a ministry of Grace Community Church. He and his wife, Haylee, have three children and one on the way.
Senior High Youth Director
Gabe Healy
Gabe came on board as the full-time Senior High Youth Director in November 2021. In 2022, Gabe joined Spring Branch Academy as the Theology I and Humanities II teacher. In January 2024, his service at Countryside expanded to include pastoral intern and college ministry responsibilities. Gabe received a BA in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy from Spring Arbor University, and currently attends The Master's Seminary pursuing his M.Div. He and his wife, Nickaylah, work together as leaders in the Senior High Youth Group.
Children's Ministry
Abe Dane
Abe has attended Countryside since 2005, and graduated from Hillsdale College in 2009. He is the director of Children's Ministry and serves as deacon, He is married to Rebekah and they have 3 children.
